I’m following in my girl SOLD’s blogging footsteps and turning to Post Secret for some inspiration.

Well I found one. Yes. I found a secret. And I share it :)

Change is good.

Help it spread :)

Thrilling . . .

June 30, 2009

In honor of MJ, I’ve decided to post my favorite music video from Michael Jackson and I’m sure its the same for most of you.

Thriller

My brother and I would watch it all the time, trying to imitate the dances.  No matter how manner times I watched the video, I could never get the steps.  I guess I should keep on trying . . .

NOT to mention the fact that this video always scared me, but my brother would  make me watch it anyway

…..

The video still creeps me out. BUT I love the dance! haha

RIP MJ.

Emma Watson may be going away to College in the states…but she has sure graduated in the world of Fashion.  With her new campaign ad for Burberry, Watson struck a pose with TeenVogue on their August issue (my FAVORITE month…)

emma-watson-teen-vogue-august-2009 coverI have to say, TeenVogue, for me personally, has been lacking. Their past cover girls didn’t really catch my attention, namely Miley Cyrus, but this new issue had to be one of my favorites.  Right along with Taylor Swift (March 2009), Leighton Meester (February 2009), Kristen Stewart (December/January 2009), Vanessa Hudgens (September 2008),  and last year’s August issue with Amanda Seyfried – probably one of my favorite issues of all time.

But back to Emma’s TeenVogue appearance. Let’s begin with the front cover.  “From Hogwarts to Ivy League? Glam Girl Emma Watson’s Next Chapter”

The fashion Watson was donning reminded me of one of my favorite movies, Marie Antoinette with glimmers of Alice in Wonderland. It might be fall fashions that I love the most, warm colors, especially plum purple, matched with browns and creams.  A marriage between vintage and modern.

The article talked about her impending future with college where she hopes to have a normal college experience, dorm room and roommate included.  She states, “…but I’m doing this because I want to be normal.  I really want anonymity.” She intends to study English Literature and art, but where her place of study will be is unknown.

Watson also discusses her future with acting and fashion.  When asked to describe her personal style, she states, “There’s nothing interesting about looking perfect – you lose the point.  You want what you’re wearing to say something about you, about who you are.”

Great article, I highly suggest you read it! Here are some of my favorite photos from the shoot:

Countdown to Alice…

June 22, 2009

Alice in Wonderland is being made into a NEW 3D movie,  but of course you already knew that because I blogged about it already :)

Well, more exciting news about Tim Burton’s upcoming movie…here are some of the first photos from the  movie…and they look mesmerizing.

By the way, I’m ecstatic!!

alice in wonderland

Anne Hathaway will star as the White Queen and Helena Bonham Carter will star the Red Queen. And don’t forget about Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter!!

So far, things are looking good, I love Tim Burton’s approach to this classic tale!!  The movie is due out March 5, 2010.

See you then!

I had recently blogged about the Olsens, namely Ashley, however this post has to deal with both sisters.

And their incredible fashion line Elizabeth and James.

When I first heard that the Olsen twins were starting their own fashion line, I was a little skeptical.  How many “actors” have started their lines, ahem JLO and a few others, and they crashed and burned?

Yet, I was surprised at how fast this line picked up, how many other celebrities have donned the twin’s fashion pieces.  The line has been picked up at Saks, Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman and many other high-end department stores.

The line has been described as urban, and yet modern. Masculine yet feminine.  Roopal Patel, the woman’s fashion director at Bergdorf’s further describes this chic fashion line:

“The look of the line is very modern with an urban approach,” she said. “It’s fresh, appealing and very eclectic. I think that customers will notice that it will reflect their own personal styles without taking over their look by being supertrendy. The line shows a great balance of vintage meets masculinity and rock ‘n’ roll, which makes it unique.”

More of the article HERE

This line, however chic and fabulous it looks, it is pretty pricey, ranging from $195 and on. They are a luxury, a rare line of unqiue pieces created to be unattainable. It is a rare glimpse of fashion, at its purest form.

Spotted. Vintage D&B…

June 21, 2009

This weekend, I checked out a consignment store with two of my fabulous friends KMD and R. I have to admit, I’ve never really been to a consignment store, the closest I got was to Plato’s Closet, if that, where I sold all of my A&F clothes from back in the day.

As I was perusing through the store, I laid my eyes on a vintage Dooney and Bourke black and tan satchel bag.  Love at first sight.

My D&B BAG!

My D&B BAG!

I, of course bought it, especially with my friends convincing me (I’m easily convinced when shopping). Especially with the price being so affordable.  It was the best, first purchase I made at a consignment store and now I have to say I’m HOOKED on shopping vintage!!

I don’t even want to go shopping at current retail stores.

WAIT…

I take that back, retail is my weakness.  JO giving up retail shopping is the equivalent to giving up chocolate FOREVER! Ah what a maddening idea!  But, I will be looking more into vintage now a days…with the exception of a few purchases from my favorite stores, J. Crew, BR, Nordstrom and the list goes on…

I’m pretty new at this vintage shopping, so if anyone has any tips or favorite stores they go to, please SHARE!

Once I showed my mom my purchase, her face lit up, and she told me how she remembered those bags and how she use to have a similar one.  A few minutes later, after she ran to the basement and rummaged through the various boxes, she emerged with one of her own vintage Dooney and Bourke bag!!

Safe to say that I’ll be spending more time in the basement from now on…searching for more of my mom’s vintage things :) I’ll also have to start checking out my grandparent’s basements too! Perfect for starters…

Happy vintage shopping!

Belle is green…

June 21, 2009

Camilla Belle is green, as in wearing green.

At the 2009 Whitney Contemporaries Art Party and Auction in New York City on June 17th, Belle along with Alexis Bledel and other celebrities came out for the event.

I, of course, was interested in the dresses, namely Camilla’s because she is my favorite fashionista, along with VHUDG.  So imagine me GASPING when I saw Camilla donning a one shoulder Max Azria green dress (via Justjared.com).

I love, love, love the dress!!

You have to admit.  She looks glam, right down to the gray heels.  I was just so excited about this picture that I just had to share it with all of you.

Once again, bright colors are ALL the rage in Hollywood. So that’s pink, orange/red and green.  Can’t wait to see what is next!!
Till another fashionista shows her colors,

CFDA Beauties…

June 19, 2009

On June 15th, the CDFA Fashion Awards took place at the Alice Tully Hall in Lincoln Center in New York City.  Numerous celebs attended the event, however, the only two whose dresses caught my eye were Ashley Olsen and Blake Lively.

It looks like brights are in for this season, namely bright pink…

Not only is the color of the dress ravishing, but I love the pockets. Show me a dress that’s A. strapless and B. has the added bonus of pockets and I’ll go GAGA over it.  Lively looks great in this dress and the color is eye-catching!!

Next up? Ashley Olsen in orange/red and … shoulder pads?

Sure shoulder pads were old news and popular back  in the day, but Ashley brings them back with grace.  I love the bright orange/red color, again it is another eye-catching dress.

Ashley Oslen and her sister Mary-Kate have been known to don, well, odd pieces, but they know fashion and they wear it with confidence and passion.

GAGA and Ellen…

June 14, 2009

I totally missed Lady Gaga’s performance on the Ellen DeGeneres show May 12th of this year. She did a great performance of Poker Face…complete with a head barrier?

So for anyone who missed it as well…here it is.

Business-class…

June 13, 2009

I haven’t been much of a big fan of LC, mostly because I was getting tired of her drama-seeking show The Hills and also for the fact that she has a book out that is “loosely based on her life” and now she hopes to make it a movie.

I’m sorry? IT’S ALREADY BEEN A TV SHOW!! I don’t think America wants to see The Hills: Movie … is that what reality TV is becoming? Honestly…

BUT despite my loathing of her new book, I can’t help but L-O-V-E her style, especially this photo…with a wig? I’m more concerned about the clothes really.  I love the black ankle pants – tight fitted and short enough to pull off the heels look, but not short to resemble capris.

I’m also a big fan of her jacket. The blazer has become a staple in fashion now, they look great with practically anything. Jean skirts? Shorts? Jeans? Tights even! A blazer is classy, and even if you’re dressed down with a jean skirt, this jacket can make you look sassy and classy!

The wig is apparently for a photo shoot Harper’s Bazaar according to justjared.com. I just hope she doesn’t keep it on!!
