Have you ever read The Looking Glass Wars? The story behind the story of Alice?

One of my favorite books is The Looking Glass Wars, the “true” story behind Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland. It is part of a trilogy that follows the war over imagination in Wonderland and the real story of who Alice was or shall I say, Alyss.

Here is the synopsis of The Looking Glass Wars:

The “true story” behind Alice in Wonderland! Princess Alyss Heart is brutally cast out of Wonderland by her vicious Aunt Redd, who beheads Alyss’ mother (Off with her head, she cries!) and begins to rule over Wonderland with an iron fist. Alyss escapes from Wonderland and is exiled to another world entirely–Victorian London–where she is adopted into a new family, renamed Alice, and befriended by Lewis Carroll. At age 20 she returns to Wonderland to battle Redd, reclaim the throne, and lead Wonderland into its next golden age of imagination. The Looking Glass Wars

Following the first book, Seeing Red (#2) was published which further followed the war and Alyss’ part in restoring peace in Wonderland.  The author, Frank Beddor, has created video trailers, book soundtracks and illustrations relating to his series.

(the trailer is kind of funny, but nevertheless intriguing.)  They can all be viewed here.

What I’m most excited about is the last installment of his 3-part series, ArchEnemy (#3), which is available on October 15th.  The publication of his final book comes in perfect timing with the soon-to-be-released movie Alice in Wonderland directed by Tim Burton, due out March 5, 2010.

Don’t be late . . .
