Literary Musings…
May 28, 2009
I recently paid a visit to my favorite store… Barnes and Noble and I decided to pick up some books that have intrigued me for some time now.
The Bell Jar by Slyvia Plath
A Room of One’s Own by Virginia Woolf
I have been meaning to read these books but I never picked them up, so tonight as I took a gander beyond their covers, I fell in love with their words.
Upon reading the first chapter of The Bell Jar, the first page caught my interest and I just could not put it down. Plath was such a great writer, her descriptions are … mesmerizing really.
Allow me to tickle your literary taste buds:
New York was bad enough. By nine in the morning the fake, country-wet freshness that somehow seeped in overnight evaporated like the tail end of a sweet dream. Mirage-gray at the bottom of their granite canyons, the hot streets wavered in the sun, the car tops sizzled and glittered, and the dry, cindery dust blew into my eyes and down my throat (pg 1)
I’ll let that sit in your mind for a bit..
…
..
.
Beautiful. Great writer. That is all I have to say.
I can’t wait to dive deeper into this novel. I hear that its depressing, but with writing like this,I can’t help but read on…

All Grown Up…

This girl is more than bookworm Hermione Granger… she is a fashionista.
This photo and others are for a French fashion magazine Crash by Chanel designer Karl Lagerfeld.
I’ll let the photo do the blogging:
Ladies, Adam Kimmel…
May 27, 2009
Allow me to introduce my new favorite men’s fashion designer: Adam Kimmel.
I have blogged about him recently, mostly for his black-rimmed glasses (LOL) but as I looked more into his fashion history, I have become rather intrigued by him.
His designs have been featured in countless magazines such as VOGUE, ELLE, L’UOMO VOGUE, NUMERO, and many others. Blogger Christopher Bollen from For The Moment at nytimes.com writes that Kimmel is “Known for his heady brand of cerebral machismo.”
Cerebral Machismo? Google that phrase and Adam Kimmel shows up.
Only 29 years old, and Kimmel has created a name for himself. Just look at his PRESS coverage on his site…the list goes on and on.
GO HERE for more of his looks..
What I find fascinating about Kimmel’s designs is that he looks towards American culture for inspiration on his designs.
“My inspiration is always American…” he says. “I try to discover pockets of American culture that resonate with my contemporaries and keep it as personal as I can.”
[*excerpt from TIME]
I’ll be keeping a close eye on this New York native designer, who seems to have the fashion world hooked on machismo appeal.
And those glasses surely add to the machismo infatuation….

A New Crush…
May 26, 2009
Okay so I have a new crush….and its on the Jonas Brothers…specifically Joe and Nick.
Don’t judge me…
Yes, I am caving into the teen pop culture craze surrounding these boys.
But after watching their new music video for ‘Paranoid’…I can’t help but agree with the crazed teenage girls who have pictures of the Jonas Brothers plastered on their walls…just like I did with N’SYNC.
Oh jeez I’m getting old…
Weekend Getaway…
May 23, 2009
I’m heading down the shore this weekend.

The View from my House
(hopefully the weather will be like THIS)
Who knows what the weather will be like…I keep hearing its going to be beautiful, then the weather man tells me its going to thunderstorm…so I really don’t know what to make of this weekend.
BUT I am packing a few things to keep me occupied. I have a lot of reading to catch up on:
1. The Tenant of Wildfell Hall by Anne Brontë
2. Charmed Thirds by Megan McCafferty
3. Twilight. Yes I am re-reading it. No I am not ashamed.
I’m also bring along with me my two best friends… Glamour and Cosmo. A girl has to have best friends right??
Without any means of Internet connection, I am sure I’ll have all of my reading accomplished. Oh yea and shopping of course.
Till next week,

Business Attire…
May 23, 2009
Over the course of the week, I have been on the hunt for new business clothes.
I decided that I needed the basics, the staples, the must-haves.
After days of searching through racks of clothes and stores, I have found my perfect set of must-have business clothes!
So here are my list of must-haves:
You can’t go wrong with a blazer. It’s a classy clothing staple, you can dress it up with slacks or even with jeans. SASSY.
When in doubt, wear pants. These pants come in either cream or black. Dressy pants are a GO-GO in the working world, and they always look slimming and classy in the office.

Pencil Skirt from J Crew
Pencil skirts are a great way to change up the usual suit attire found in the office. J Crew has a great selection on pencil skirts. They’re feminine yet business-causal.
As for shoes, you obviously don’t want to wear strappy heels or crazy colors (unless you’re in a fashion-based office). Just keep it simple. BUT if you want to make your shoes pop out..make sure you keep your outfit toned down.
These heels aren’t too high, so they are perfect to walk around the office with, especially if you’re not use to walking in heels so much!!
A smart business girl always has a pair of flats in her bag. Who wants to get blisters on their feet just from getting to work?
Not only are these flats the CUTEST thing … but they’re super comfortable. They will match with anything, and they’ll keep the blisters at bay.

Marion Cotillard in Dior Lady Niore Affair …
May 19, 2009
I really do admire Marion Cotillard. I think she is beautiful and a talented actress. In her latest Lady Dior short film, I couldn’t help but fall in love with the pictures. They really make me want to live in Paris… and she just looks fabulous too.

Love the pictures! Here is a little preview of Cotillard’s short film:
