It was a Wednesday night, approximately 9:58PM.

I was in my dorm room, sitting on my bed with my lap top, trying to start my Media Law paper (5-6 pages long, I only had a paragraph) that was due the next morning.

My TV was turned on, volume high.

Then, it happened.

Brad Lidge threw the perfect pitch, clinching the World Series for the Philadelphia Phillies.

I couldn’t really tell you what happened next…a lot of screaming, jumping up and down, shouting OMG! OMG! WE WON! WE WON!!….for about 10 minutes.

Calling anyone  and everyone to tell them that the Phillies won, they did it, we are 2008 World Champs.

If you are a Philadelphia fan, then you would understand the sentimental value of this win, what it really  means to finally see the Phillies win.

For countless years, I have watched my family, especially my brother, get his hopes high everytime the Phillies came close to the World Series.  It seemed to me like an impossible feat, with the Phillies always falling short.

In each of those losses, my brother would be dissappointed and broken hearted. Each year it became harder for him to accept that his team lost…again, but with every new season approaching, he always had high hopes for Philly.

It amazed me at how he continued to believe in his team, despite after each passing season the Phillies would break his heart, unintentionally of course, he still believed in them.

So after 28 years of waiting, last night was the Phillies’ gift to both themselves and to a city who never stopped believing.

Philly Fans are one of a kind. They love their teams and hate their opponents, and they are not afraid to show it.  Through thick and thin, Phillies fans never gave up on their team, and last night was a dream come true.

So to non-Philly fans, I don’t care how much you hate them, my team won and your team lost.  You now have no right to throw in our faces, “when was the last time the Phillies won the World Series?!”  The Phillies have proven themselves to the National League that they are here to stay.  If there was ever a city so alive, it was Philadelphia last night.  There is no city like it, and I’m pretty sure we gave a new meaning to what it means to celebrate a World Series win.

This article was on ESPN, highly touching and emotional.  It was a great recap of the win last night.  Here’s an excerpt:

Before this night, they’d won one World Series in the first 125 years in their history. They’d lost more games than any team in any professional sport in North America. They were a team that hadn’t just dropped off their own city’s map. There was a time they’d practically toppled off their own sport’s map.

But not anymore.

Just a month and a half ago, in mid-September, these Phillies were a team dangling from the National League cliff — 3½ games behind the Mets in the NL East, four games back of the Brewers in the wild card free-for-all. No one could have seen then that a parade was in their future.

But since then, all they’ve done is go 24-6. Yeah, 24-6. Only four World Series winners in history — just two of them in the past 94 years — ever had a better finish than that.

-Jayson Stark: “Philadelphia finally gets another title”

I still can’t believe it, and every time I watch highlights I get chills.  I can’t believe we won, I finally saw my team win a World Series.

Thanks Phillies. Thanks for making my family, my brother’s dream come true, and thanks for making me believe.  I love you.

Gaga vs X-Tina…

October 26, 2008

Dear Christina Aguilera,

Please stop trying to be Lady Gaga.  You are embarrassing yourself.

Thank you.

As much as it kills me to have her on my blog, I felt the need to juxtapose X-Tina’s clip of her new music video, with my all time favorite singer, Lady Gaga’s video “Poker Face.”

And now you tell ME if X-Tina is copying Gaga’s style.

FYI- Gaga’s video and “futuristic” style came out WAY before X-Tina’s attempt…

(For some reason, Gaga’s video won’t play, so go here to watch it.)

It’s about time everyone finally realized how amazing GAGA and her music is. Like seriously, where have you all been!?

Check out M’s take on GAGA HERE.

Rock N’Roll…

Can we discuss High School Musical 3??

I just watched it last night, save for the teeny-boppers.

So what are my thoughts on this highly anticipated film?  It was probably my favorite one out of the three.

Shall we introduce Jo’s Short and Sweet? I think so….

JO’S SHORT AND SWEET:

1. The story line was amazingly cute. I almost cried towards the end, knowing that it was the end of the cast of High School Musical.

2. The dancing and music were even better than before.  Intense.

3. Gabriella and Troy have to be the cutest couple of all time. Like seriously, why are they soo cute??

4. The ending was perfect.  The characters really did grow up, all the while growing together.

5. You finally decide where all the cast is going to school, especially Troy.  He finally decides what he wants to do, and decides his future: basketball or dancing…basketball or dancing…basketball or dancing…you’ll just have to watch it to find out what he wants to do….!! It was a good decision :)

6. I’m going to miss High School Musical…apparently they are going to make more, but with a different cast. I don’t know if I can watch it without the original cast.  It would be like the downfall of Laguna Beach.

It was a great movie, and it put me in a goood mood :)  What made me really excited was reading a recent article about HSM3 and Efron.  Here is a snippet:

Efron calls his time with “High School Musical” as “a dream come true.”

But it didn’t start as a dream. He recalls having to wait hours between the first audition and the second. And then when the young actors were paired with a variety of other actors it was always Efron and Vanessa Hudgens who got paired together. They thought that was a bad thing. But in the end they went on to be the biggest high school musical couple on film since John Travolta and Olivia Newton John starred in “Grease.”

Oh and here is the trailer. I could not help myself.  I kind of want to watch it again….shhh!

Taylor Momsen a model??

October 25, 2008

On the Gossip Girl Front,

Good girl Jenny is now a model?

Taylor Momsen, 14 years old, signed to IMG. Her “test shots” are now posted on IMG’s web site. Go here for the full story and more pictures…

I don’t know what I think about this. I mean, at least she isn’t the new spokeperson for Neutrogena or Dooney and Burke.

But really…a 14 year old girl…modeling in pictures with smokey eyes….bedroom teased hair…. I MEAN!

Whatever happened to Cindy-Lou-Who…???

Hello Hamels…

October 23, 2008

and Cole is gor-GE-ous.

TRL says goodbye…

October 22, 2008

 Total Request Live

VJs Damien Fahey and Lyndsey Rodrigues work on set during MTV's "Total Request Live" at MTV Studios in New York on Feb. 5.

Sad news for TRL fans. TRL is ending their run of 10 years on the air.

I was watching a clip from TRL with the cast of HSM3 yesterday when I heard the mention of “TRL coming to an end” and I came into total shock.

WHAT?! TRL ENDING!?!?! The idea seems preposterous to me! How else will new music videos be aired? What about the Top 10 videos!?! ALSO, what am I suppose to do when I go to NYC on a weekday? The rush of seeing a celebrity behind the glass windows of TRL studios will be gone? What about New Years Eve?! The VMAS? WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN!!

For someone who grew up with TRL always in the background, and having to tape every moment that N’SYNC, Britney Spears (before she married K-Fed) or Justin Timberlake was on TRL. But then again, as the years went on, TRL started lacking, or maybe it was me growing up.

I guess I took TRL for granted and stopped watching it. If I happen to pass it while channel surfacing, of course I would watch it. But knowing that it is ending just upsets me. I guess I’ll never have the chance to run up to their studios to meet JT or any other celeb who I am obsessed with.

So you’re probably wondering what the reason is behind TRL shutting down, for now they say. Well to sum it all up, they felt that after 10 years, it was about time for a break. Hm, I kind of don’t believe that but…

I feel like a huge piece of music history is dieing.

Go HERE for the full story on TRL coming to an end.

The last show is on November 16th at 8PM

Who did it better…

October 21, 2008

I had to again.

Vanessa Hudgens has another fashion DO. HSM3 hit up TRL, and you tell me, did V-Hudg or A-Tis have the better outfit??

my vote is V-HUDG…not because she is my favorite…but because her outfit is GOR-ge-OUS.

Seriously its like night and day.

HSM3 has been busy, and so has outfit changes.  Look at V-Hudg’s other fashion choices.  Love them.

Michael Ausiello has confirmed sources saying that a character from Gossip Girl will DIE this season…but no one will say WHO! All we have are 5 potential characters, one who may not live to gossip past season 2:

1. Vanessa

2. Bart

3. Nate

4. Rufus

5. Georgina

GO HERE for why these 5 might get the cut…

Since this is a new little something-something from wordpress… vote for who you think will die on Gossip Girl…
