August 27, 2008

Just in case you didn’t know, season 2 of Gossip Girl is nearing (September 1st) and thanks to a kind and friendly Perez, he posted the first 5 minutes of the premiere.

And snice I’m such a big fan to GG and loyal to all my avid readers, I posted up the clip for your indulgence.

SO, after reading Perez and my BFF’s blogg, I have learned that my all-time favorite couple Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams are back together!!!

I mean I just louvre them :D

They were perfect in The Notebook together, and I was so happy to see them as a couple.  They truly compliment each other well.

So you could imagine my heartbreak when I found out that they broke up.  I was completely torn.  They fell into the cliche of “Hollywood Break-Ups” WELL NOT ANYMORE!! They are back together and they never looked so in love :)

*get more pic-a-tures here

Now, allow me to introduce you to the best clip of these two.  Their reenactment of their famous onscreen kiss!!  Ah, it was soo cute.

Enjoy!!!

Ahh I’m going to have to watch The Notebook again….

My Book List…

August 23, 2008

Back on the book front, I’ve been slow in my readings and I have not progressed anywhere.

Typical jo.Cover Image

Right now, I’m stuck on “The Hidden Diary of Marie Antoinette” by Carolly Erickson.  One of my favorite movies is Marie Antoinette with Kirsten Dunst and what can I say, I was intrigued.  I wanted to know more about this Queen and what made her so legendary.  So far the book is good, except for the part where she gives birth to her first child.  Let’s just say … a little too much information.  Like a push here and there and POP out comes a baby would have sufficed….

Cover ImageANYWAYS, I also just bought a book of essays written by Sloane Crosley, “I WAS TOLD THERE’D BE CAKE.”  It’s a New York Times Bestseller and I read the first page and I made my way to the cashier.  I really like her voice, and I can’t wait to read more of it!!

Now, for the main topic of discussion.  There’s this book out, and it has gained an incredible amount of popularity.  You may have heard of it, it’s called “Twilight” (and I can hear the fans gasping as I mention the novel.)  I don’t know much about the book, but apparantly its amazing and it has everyone buzzing.  My amazing friend K, has read the first 2 books of the series and all I hear are good things.

I mean yes, vampires, kind of turns me off from reading the series, but K says that I’ll get hooked no matter what.  She goes on to say that the suspense of the novel and Stephenie Meyer’s writing is captivating, and that I’ll probably finish it in a day.  http://www.trailer2008.com/2008/05/05/twilight-movie-trailer-hd-official/

My mom, believe it or not, has read ”Twilight” also and says that its a great book.  I mean I guess I should read this!!  ALSO, the movie adaptation of “Twilight” is due out on 11.21.08 with the likes of Robert Pattinson (Cedric Diggory from HP 4) and Kristen Stewart.  I mean Robert Pattinson is gor-gE-ous!!  From the previews I have seen, the movie looks promising!

Now, I’m really curious about this book, so I think I’m going to start reading it!!  That is of course, after I’m done reading my two other books and my school novels…

yea, thats not going to happen! I’m def starting “Twilight” tonight.

For any fans of the Twilight series, you’re opinions/comments/suggestions are always welcomed!!

I’m back from hiatus.

So much has happened and so much of it…unblogged.

And I know I’ve been on a Michael Phelps binge, but I just couldn’t help myself. He is just so amazing, and just in case you didn’t know…he won 8 gold medals, and has a total of 14 medals.  The first Olympian to do so.

BUT to end my Phelps charade, I will end on the note of his books.  Book Cover

He has already written one book called Beneath the Surface, and according to reviews its ”not a swimming diary but a take of adversities overcome and redemption through persistence.”

I looked up the book at barnesandnoble.com, and all I have read were great reviews.  So you can assume that I will be buying the book!!

ALSO, I read on Perez that he is writing another book called Built to Succeed.  The novel will cover his competitions, his training, his family and how he coped with his attention-deficit behavior. YUM.

It will be published right in time for the holidays, what a perfect stocking stuffer!!

HAHA, just kidding….no but really….

Disturbed Disturbia…

August 16, 2008

So I just watched Rihanna’s new music video for “Disturbia” and I’m pretty disturbed.  Like whhaat! It was creepy, weird, freaky and scary.  I mean I guess that’s what the producers wanted the video to feel like, but talk about creep-a-leek!

Despite the video being 100% Thriller-esq, but taken to a whole new level, she looked good…in some scenes.  She was wearing some crazy cool shoes, like platform heals and the gladiator scandals that reach up to your knees. That was what I liked most about her video … her shoes haha!

The song is great, its ideal Dance Party music, but the radio is overplaying it!  Like sometimes I’ll hear it on 2 different stations at the same time! Like I’m tired of it already, and its a shame because its such a good song.

Anyways, enough of me blogging on about this, check the video out for yourselves and let me know what you think!

What difference does a fingernail make?

Well to Michael Phelps, the difference is a GOLD MEDAL.

Once again, Michael Phelps makes history, he won the 100M Butterfly by .01 seconds, while sharing the record with Mark Spitz’s record of 7 total gold medals in a single Olympics.

Watching the race was gut-wrenching, and it was SO CLOSE that the Serbian Federation filed a written protest to FINA to challenge the result.  After watching the video of the finish, the officials decided to stop the protest, seeing as how Phelps won the race fair and in an a fingertip’s reach.

As for Mark Spitz, he and Phelps had a little heart to heart which was soo cute.

“What you did tonight was epic,” Spitz told Phelps. “I never thought you were out of that race. That is a tribute to your greatness. We’re so proud of you. I am happy to keep company with you.” -via NBC

And I have to agree with Spitz, Michael Phelps is the greatest Olympian of all time. Congrats Michael!!

A delay?!?!

August 16, 2008

WHAT IS THIS!

I just read the new Entertainment Weekly with Harry Potter featured on the cover.  I read the article and I got REALLY excited for November 21st.

WELL, imagine my hysteria when I learn that Warner Brothers decided to DELAY the release of the sixth film, Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince until July 2009.

The reason for this delay? MONEY AND SELFISHNESS. Warner Brothers (WB) believes that they will make more money if they release the movie in the summer.

After reading Entertainment Weekly, I kind of sensed why they decided this.  In the article, they were raising the question on whether audiences will be interested in the films since the series is over. MY opinion is, OF COURSE THEY WILL BE INTERESTED! Every fan of Harry Potter wants to see the movie adaption of the series, and how the book will be portrayed on the big screen.  Those who have not read the novels, still want to see what happens to Harry, so I’m sure they will continue watching the movies.

As I was reading TimesOnline over this topic of MAD DISCUSSION, someone brought up a very interesting point, that WB is afraid of the movie TWILIGHT beating them at the box offices.  That’s a tough call, I’m sure TWILIGHT will do well in the box offices, seeing as how readers are raving about the novels…

Well, this delay is just “rubbish!” Maybe WB should have thought of that before they chose the release date of the movie, the trailer and all of the publicity that followed.

Part of me is furious, the other is part of me is kind of relieved because I would not have been able to watch the midnight showing, seeing as how my education rules my life. So I guess its a win-lose situation, but I’m more mad at the fact that I have to wait LONGER! ugh. The trailer is a complete teaser now…and every time I see it, I’m going to cry.

boo. I guess I’ll talk to you Potter fans in July :(

blog to you then -joo

Your daily Michael Phelps update.

History has been broken and rewritten.  Michael Phelps stands alone with a career mark of 10 total gold medals, surpassing the likes of Mark Spitz and Carl Lewis (track star).

He won the men’s 200M Butterfly with a time of 1.52.03 breaking his previous world record (WR) of 1.52.09 in the 2007 World Championship in Melbourne, Australia.  Although he was hoping for a faster time, he still made history by adding another gold medal to his belt.

…and he still has more races to come and records to break.

More news regarding MP to come, as of right now…I’m watching USA Women’s Gymnastics with the amazing Shawn Johnson.  Girl is like a bundle of muscles who executes every move with perfection.  She is amazing…and is only 16. woooooowza.

the full article on Michael Phelps is here.

Thanks to a helpful blogger and some more research, I have found further information about a second treatment of the Coppola Keratin Treatment.

First: The helpful blogger wrote that a second treatment is not as damaging as I heard.

Second: I read up some “curly-blogs” and someone who got it done twice did not complain about any damage done to her hair.

AH! I can actually breathe a sigh of relief! The treatment really did wonders for my hair, and made it SO much more healthier than it was. So I might consider getting it done again, though I’m still not sure…

If you’re still contemplating on getting it done, I highly suggest it… it will change your curly/frizzy hair for the better!

Also, for a little personal update, I got this treatment done in June and so far my hair has been behaving.  EXCEPT for my ends, which are left-over relaxed-processed hair (which I really hate), and whenever humidity strikes, they are the first to frizz.  It’s so annoying and I really want to cut off my ends, BUT I have to let them grow out a little bit more. UGH

Anyways, my mom got the same treatment done in late April and her hair has already started getting frizzy. It held up for almost 3 months, and she’s a little disappointed because its suppose to last up to 6 months. I personally think its because she gets her hair colored every now and then, and maybe that’s why the treatment didn’t last long.  Any thoughts?

So my mom talked it over with my hairdresser, and she suggested to get this Frizz balm, which is safe to use on treated hair.  It worked wonders on my mom’s hair, it made it even more shinier and less frizzy.  I tried it (on my ends) and it works like a charm!  PHYTO Phytodefrisant, Botanical Hair Relaxing Balm

It’s a french product by PHYTO called Phytodefrisant.  It’s a botanical hair relaxing balm (smooths and moisturizes) and it’s safe to use on Keratin treated hair.

It’s about $26.00, a little pricey but worth every drop.

If anyone has anymore information about a second treatment of the Coppola Keratin Treatment, please share! :D

have a frizz-free day,

jo

Mom’s Advice

August 12, 2008

I think we should all listen to our mothers’ advice and put it to use.

“If you have nothing nice to say, then don’t say anything at all.”

Thank you.
