Wake UP Call!! Stop singing…
July 31, 2008
Unfortunately I stumbled upon Hayden Panettiere’s new music video “Wake Up Call” as I was looking through www.gossipgirlonline.net, and I regret it … full heartily.
The only reason why its on the site is because it feats. Sebastian Stan (from GG) in the video.
WELL, I was curious and I clicked play and as soon as it started, I wanted to poke my eyes out.
I’m not even going to post the video here because I don’t want her or her song to tarnish my beloved blogg. But if you really want to watch it…youtube it.
But for my Short and Sweet:
1. She may have a decent voice, but no. I feel like anyone can sing now a days. Look at freaking Heidi Montag. Have you heard her new song… “FASHION?” Its on Perez … and its pretty heinous and pathetic.
2. The video is just an excuse for her to be her slutty self. IM SORRY Hayden fans!! But seriously. She was on the cover for I believe Seventeen or CosmoGirl, and the dress they had her wear… WASN’T SHORT ENOUGH SO THEY HEMMED IT. Like really?? Was it not REVEALING YOUR ASS?? gosh.
3. The song kind of sounded like Paris Hilton’s “The Stars are Blind,” and Hayden’s get-up looked like a copy-cat of Hilary Duff’s “Wake Up” music video. But 100,000 times as bad. (and those were pretty bad songs too…maybe not so much of Hilary’s)
4. The song is just stupid. I felt like I was in the Caribbean..for all the wrong reasons.
And that’s that.
Its evident that I’m in a hatin’ type mood. I better stop before I blogg too much information :/
GG Studies…

Allow me to introduce you to my friends:
August 19th: Gossip Girl Season 1 on DVD.
September 1st: starts the second season of the most delectable show on television.
Now, I’m not one to boast about myself (even though this blog is ALL ABOUT ME)…………. BUT when this series came out, I think its safe to say that I got all my friends hooked on the series…and then my influence spread throughout my grade in High School. What can I say … I’m a trendsetter
Any-WHO! When this show started…my friends and I weren’t fans of it because it was NOT like the book. But I gave it a chance, and as I watched the next few episodes I thought, hey there’s something about this show that I like…and even though it doesn’t follow the book…I’m starting to like it even more!! And the rest is history
Consider this your dose of “social studies,”

The new “ME STORE…”
July 30, 2008
Okay.
I must admit. For someone who loves fashion, I have not found “my store.” You know what I mean? It’s the ME store, THE store where you go to every season to stock up on the latest fashions.
The one place you know that no matter what, they will always have something for you, that matches you’re style.
Well, for the past year, I haven’t had “my store,” and things were a little….lonely. I felt really lost, like my identity was somehow gone. With all the latest fashions flying at me, I couldn’t find a common ME fashion ground… the place where Jo meets new fashion.
Its safe to say that I’m not lost anymore. I’ve found “my store” and I’m dieing to go there and buy…pretty much everything.
You may have heard it, but ever since a few days ago, I have never heard of the place.
Its called MADEWELL 1937 and it is amazing. Not only are the looks 101% ME, but they are affordable and great quality. I’m loving the looks, the colors, EVERYTHING!! My favorite item on their site? Their garment-dyed denim. I really love the yellow, green and orange ones
I also love the scarves!!
I’m so close to buying every one of their looks right now, but I’m trying to control myself. So I decided that I should blog about it, rather than maxing out my VISA card.
So check it out!! The website is really cute too. So I can definitely say that this is my NEW M&M:
MADEWELL 1937 CLOTHING/DENIM
AHH!! I’m soo happy!! I cannot wait to own a pair of their jeans!!
joo in denim heaven.
A 2nd time is NOT a charm…
July 29, 2008
SO, I was at a Bridal Shower a couple of Sundays ago, and for those of you who do not know my family, its the perfect excuse for all of us to show off our “Sunday’s best,” brag about our babies/kids/grandchildren, catch-up, and mingle with cousins, 2nd cousins, 3rd cousins, Aunts, great Aunts and so forth. (I’m sure this is the same for others too).
It turns out that both of us got the Keratin Complex Hair Complex by Coppola and we were raving about how it turned our hair into frizz-free, healthy locks. But here’s where the conversation went sour…she began telling me how she wanted to have it done again, BUT her salon was not applying the treatment to 2nd-timers, because they were receiving complaints from other women who had the treatment done twice. They say that it DAMAGED their hair!! I was taken aback, and shocked at this new information!
My cousin says she doesn’t think she’s going to get it done again, she would rather have frizzy hair than damaged hair, and I have to agree.
However, I have been searching through the Internet to find some proof that a 2nd treatment is damaging to your hair. So if I do end up finding anything, I’ll be sure to post it. In the meantime, if anyone, I mean ANYONE has any information regarding the effects of a 2nd Coppola Keratin Treatment, please let me know. You will be rewarded…with a shout out of course
Also, even if I don’t have back-up information, I don’t think I’m going to get the treatment done a second time. I’d rather be safe than sorry.
Now, if you are a “first-timer” contemplating on receiving the Coppola Keratin Treatment, please refer to my early blog entry: HARD-CURL LOVE. I also suggest visiting the official Keratin website here. ps. its been UPDATED!! :D
Is it really the BEST OF BOTH WORLDS?

I think this is the first time I’m at a loss for words. Perhaps you dear readers can somehow find the words to describe the following video clip:
Like…what is going on?
I mean, I will admit, when Hannah Montana first aired, I watched the show. I actually had conversations with my 10-year old cousin regarding the show. BUT then, little Miss Montana turned into MILEY CYRUS, who turned into PICTURE SLUT, who now is YOUTUBE BITCH.
I mean, yes the girl is only 15-yrs-old and she is acting like a stupid teenager who thinks she rules the world (which she does….basically), but was this necessary? Don’t get me wrong, I like the girl … I’m just not a fan anymore.
So here’s my thing, Miley is 15 so she can act like one, BUT when you’re a role-model to a bunch of little girls, being you’re average 15-yr old self is not so acceptable. I’m not trying to say ACT MATURE, but I mean be a little understanding that you’re actions will somehow affect those little girls who look up to you. Just be a little smart with what you’re doing, such as PUTTING YOUR PICTURES IN AN EMAIL WHICH CAN EASILY BE LAUNCHED ONTO THE INTERNET, OR PUTTING UP A VIDEO ON YOUTUBE THAT MAKES YOU LOOK LIKE YOU’RE DRUNK.
Honestly.

Constructive Criticism…
July 28, 2008
Narnia Fans!!! I’m back. I know its been a long time, but you know how it is. For an book update, my Narnia journey has not progressed in any way, its been put on hold. Ever snice reading Prince Caspian, things haven’t been moving fast in the Book Front.
HOWEVER, as a person with a love for fashion and for Narnia, these two worlds collide thanks to Anna Popplewell. My dear friend M updates her blog of Narnia happenings, and included are pictures of the group promoting PRINCE CASPIAN overseas. Now, in each of these premieres, Anna Popplewell gets all dressed up, and I hate to say it because I truly love her, her style choices haven’t been the best. I’m really pulling for the girl, trying to cut her some slack, but seriously the girl needs a stylist, A PROFESSIONAL stylist that is. I really want to hold her hand and help her avoid another fashion mistake.
So, while M and I chatted over the phone, we were looking at some pretty fug-a-licious pictures of Anna. (I personally had to get tissues because I was laughing so hard…I was crying.) SO, we got carried away: M and I decided to compile a list of Popplewell’s top 5 worst outfits. ENJOY. Go here for M’s list.
TOP 5 MOST HID-A-OUS OUTFITS DONNED BY ANNA POPPLEWELL:
NUMBER 5
Now, it looks like she’s at a red carpet? SOOO why would you wear a “casual-dress?” Especially something that makes you like …. umm PALE like Casper.
NUMBER 4
Hmm, I could buy this dress at Forever 21. The hem is all weird and sliver shoes? when was THAT okay?
NUMBER 3
…my Grandma called, she wants her dress back.
NUMBER 2
There are so many things wrong with this outfit. The shoes, the dress, the jacket and the tights. AND the bag looks like its too elegants for this getup.
NUMBER 1
I’m actually at a loss for words…for the first time.
So there you have it! My list of Anna Popplewell’s worst outfits. Check out M’s Blog!!!
For all you die-hard Popplewell fans, I truly love her…just not her choice of clothing. Please take this as “constructive criticism.”

JCPENNEY is riding the SEX wave…
July 25, 2008
After perusing though AOL a couple weeks ago, and I came across Parent Dish blog. The post was called: “JCPenney’s “teen sex” ad [updated].” I must admit that I was a little intrigued to see what exactly was going on with the well-known department store chain.
Please watch the following clip:
http://www.adgabber.com/video/video/show?id=546804%3AVideo%3A102542
After watching their new commercial, I kind of just sat there thinking……WTF.
It seems that JCPENNEY felt the need to expand their horizons and go with the “sex trend.” Now as previously discussed in OMFG! GOSSIP GIRL IS RACY!, the new scandalous promos seem to have parents buzzing around claiming that the show is “undermining positive values.” Okay, Gossip Girl is a show, maybe a bit soap-opera-ish. So if you don’t like it, don’t watch it.
Now as for this commercial…its simply ABSURD. You’ve got a boy and a girl timing how fast they can take off their clothes and put them back on again (all the while “promoting” the clothes of course.) Then once the boy comes over to his girlfriends house, the girl tells her mother, that they are going downstairs to “watch tv.” YEA SURE! Then as the commercial is comes to an end, a slogan puts up that states: “Today’s the day to get away with it.” I want to ask… to get away with what exactly??
I mean I don’t know, I don’t want to contradict myself, but seriously there has GOT to be a better way to promote JCPENNEY’s fall line. I mean its like they are selling sex instead of their clothing, AND the boy and girl look like they should be in middle school!! WHAT IS GOING ON!!!!!
What are you’re thoughts? Do you think this is appropriate?
Now it gets funnier, according to an update, JCPENNEY IS DENYING THAT THEY EVER KNEW ABOUT THE AD, and their ad ageny is denying it as well. WELL WHO MADE IT!? WHO GAVE THE OK!!? Hmm…this seems sketchy to me….
so heres a nice message from JCPENNEY to all the young people, let TODAY be the day you get away from it.
and then we start wondering why young teens are getting prego….
Sex is everywhere, but when can we say that certain things are crossing the line? Sure Gossip Girl’s promos are a little racy, but its not telling viewers LET TODAY BE THE DAY YOU GET AWAY WITH IT. Like seriously. If the PTC should freak about anything…it should be about JCPENNEY’s new commercial.
Cheers.

OMFG! Gossip Girl is RACY!
July 24, 2008
SOUND THE ALARMS!!
CALL FOR BACKUP!!!
GOSSIP GIRL IS …. (gasp) RACY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
News of Gossip Girls’ latest promos are creating an uproar amongst critics, especailly the Parents Television Council (PTC). Due to their scandolus pictures and somewhat suggestive slogans, Gossip Girl has “crossed the line” of the safe and acceptable and into uncharted waters.
Some of the slogans include: “Every Parent’s Nightmare,” “A Nasty Piece of Work,” and “Mind-Blowingly Inappropriate.” HAHA, I personally think these are hilarous and crafty little slogans. But I must admit and side with the PTC that some of the pictures are a little too much, but hey its GOSSIP GIRL. What did you accept? Gossip Girl craves gossip and look, she’s getting what she wanted.
The PTC has stated:
“Rather than reinforcing positive values that parents are trying to instill in their children, this program very often is undermining these positive values,” said PTC’s Henson in April during a CNN-aired discussion spurred by that steamy campaign.
If you ask me, maybe the PTC should look elsewhere to reinforce positive values. I understand that Gossip Girl isn’t the best show to exhibit “positive values,” but look at “7th Heaven!!” Sure they were a religious family, but look what went on in the house: sex before marriage, getting pregnant out of wedlock, drug-use, vandalism and much more. They really didn’t exhibit good values either.
What is important is that children understand and learn about positive values, and when shows like these are aired, they should know the difference between, what I’m sure the PTC would consider, ”Good vs. Bad behavior.” Its about what they are taught versus what they see.
According to Rick Haskins, the CW marketing boss, he claims that the new promos are merely tools to entice audiences and to grab their attentions. He quotes:
“What we’re trying to do is communicate with the audience in a way that they like and can appreciate,’ he said. “This sort of campaign resonates with someone who likes ‘Gossip Girl’” – specifically, women ages 18 to 34.”
Gossip Girl is about high-school teenagers and as Haskins stated, the show is aimed towards women of 18-34. As much as I do not like to admit, and as much as the PTC does NOT want to accept, is that today’s young teens/adults are becoming more accustom to sex. We see it everywhere. Just look at teen pregnancy, does the PTC not believe that sex is happening among young teens/adults? Well IT IS happening, so there is no point in hiding it.
I know when I was a young girl, I was not allowed to watch Dawson’s Creek due to its content, SO if parents are concerned about the content of Gossip Girl reaching their children’s eyes…then here’s the solution: DON’T LET THEM WATCH IT. Plain and simple. PLUS its not like the show is graphic in any way, and sex is not the main driving point in the show. It’s just there and shows up from time to time.
SO, my last words on this topic is: Sure, the promos are racy, BUT they sure caught your attention didn’t they?
Read more on the article here.
Can’t wait for September 1st :D
You know you LOVE me,
JO.
The Reign of the GREs
July 24, 2008
The GREs are the worst things ever created.
and all the “creators” of this forsaken test love to see students torture themselves with such useless questions and become blind by staring at the computer for 2 hours or so.
So I would like to thank the creators for this torture you have casted upon EVERY student who wants TO GET A MASTERS.
Is this some sort of punishment for those who want to further their education????
Why do you “standardize” when EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT!!?!?!??!
ugh. i am furious, agitated and overwhelmed by how much I LOATHE these exams.
I hope I survive this prep course. Today was my first day of “prepping” and I already want to pull my hair out.
ugh, see you never.
