So much to my previous disappointment (I discovered that nothing happens between Susan and Caspian in the novel), I finished Prince Caspian and watched for probably the 10th time The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe, thinking to myself that I was FINALLY going to watch the movie today.

WELL WELL WELL, much to MY surprise… NO ONE WOULD WATCH IT WITH ME!!!!  What is a girlPrince Caspian to do? Go to the theaters and watch it by herself?  I might just have to do that … I am THAT desperate to watch this film.

I heard so many great things about it, and I’ve also heard that the movie isn’t quite like the book.  Well in my opinion, I was not too thrilled about the novel.  It was pretty… how do i say this?…. dull compared to the previous novels. I was expecting a huge battle between Old Narnia and so the called “New Narnia,” as well as a fight between the Prince Caspian and his evil uncle, Miraz.  UNFORTUNATELY, none of those things happened the way I quite expected them to.

If I’m not mistaken, the first page of the book states:

A Young Prince must fight for his stolen throne.

Okay, um WHAT fight? The only fighting I read about involving Prince Caspian was when he was fighting at Aslan’sHow before and after they sounded Susan’s horn.  Oh and I’m sorry, I forgot to mention the little quarrel with Nikabrik, the Hag and the Wer-Wolf. WAS THAT HIS FIGHT?? I understand he was wounded and was advised not to avenge his uncle, but seriously.  What did Prince Caspian do otherwise to get his throne back?

Despite the lack of battles and fights, the novel was also pretty sad, regarding Peter, Susun, Edmund and Lucy.  It did cast a bit of nostalgia for the second book, The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, and some tears knowing that Peter and Susan are too old to return to Narnia :(

So, I’m really looking forward to watching the movie PRINCE CASPIAN just to see the differences, and if these differences make the story better (that’sif I find someone to watch it with me, or that I get enough courage to go alone).

Until then, I’ll be beginning my 5th adventure in Narnia by reading THE VOYAGE OF THE DAWN TREADER, and by the looks of it, it seems like Edmund and Lucy will be returning (whew).

Oh and I’ll also be watching THE LION, THE WITCH AND THE WARDROBE for the 11th and 12th time just because I’m that addicted :D

Fare-thee-well,

joO. if you must… add an extra O, not an E to JO.

May 30, 2008

So I was working yesterday, and the weirdest thing happened.  A customer complimented me on my NAIL POLISH!!! I was very grateful for her compliment and I gave myself a well-polished pat on the back.

This brings me to my new M&M:

MUST HAVE: O.P.I’S INDIA INSPIRED COLORS (SPRING/SUMMER 08 )8)

There is such a variety of colors, not to mention that they are the “it” colors of the season!  They are both bright, exuberant and laid back.

When I first saw the colors, I was a bit shy….I didn’t think I could pull off the colors.  THAT was until my friends tried them out and I saw how gorgeous they looked on! So I bought myself two colors:

Moon Over Mumbai

Get Me To The Taj On Time

They were the best investment I ever made in nail-polish.   The fashion world has been inspired this season by global influences, so why shouldn’t nail polish??!!  The colors completely compliment your entire wardrobe, so you can wear the colors with practically anything in your closet.

I highly suggest you test out these colors, and hey you might be surprise on how well you pull them off!!

My next color? I’m going to go bold and try out Yoga-Ta Get This Blue!

I’m really excited!! AND I hope to hear that you dear readers have tried and experimented with OPI INDIA also!!!!  Let me know how it goes :D

And if you’re interested, go to the OPI website and check them out some more:

Jo-Gotta Get These Colors!

Ew.

I just read an interview with Anna Popplewell, the actress who plays Susan in THE LION, THE WITCH AND THE WARDROBE, and I found out that after the book Prince Caspian, Susan AND Peter will no longer return the Narnia.

Anna Popplewell

WHAT!? I was hoping that she and Prince Caspian would end up together!!! ugh. I’m so heartbroken right now.  I don’t know if I can finish the novel now….knowing that Peter and Susan won’t return, and that Prince Caspian and Susan won’t end up together.

ahh I’m seriously depressed…. I’ve lost all interest in Prince Caspian,  and my hopes of the two being together are SHOT DOWN by C.S Lewis. WHY WHY WHY!!!

Its like Wendy and Peter Pan.  Why couldn’t she stay in Neverland with Peter?  If I was Wendy and I had the choice to stay with Peter…I would stay!!!  But then again, how long could you stay with a boy who refuses to grow up?  BUT THEN AGAIN, why would you want to grow up and deal with all the crap that comes along with it?  Ugh. It’s a win-lose situation.

So going back to Narnia, I guess Susan couldn’t stay in Narnia forever; she had a life back in her own world. BUT WHY WOULD YOU GIVE UP PRINCE CASPIAN???

No matter how you look at it we can’t have the best of both worlds, which SUCKS because I’m the worst person to make decisions.  SO what if I want to have my cake and eat it too??  Why is everything so unfair and when will choices be easier to make?  It seems that even in fiction…life isn’t so perfect, and conflicts still arise.  What we can take from these books, is to learn how to DEAL with those situations in our real lives.  Fiction gives examples of real-life situations and draws out all the possibilities.  These stories help us prepare for the real-world and real-life problems.

Even though Wendy doesn’t stay with Peter, or that Susan leaves Narnia and never comes back, we learn that we can never live in a fantasy world no matter how much we want to.  BUT, there are times when we can slip away to Neverland or Narnia for a bit.  However, we always have to return to the here and now.  It sucks, I know.  But we have to think of it this way…. it always taste sweeter when you have it once in a while.  So why would you want to spoil it?

So for a moral ending to this little piece, with the power to escape into fantasy, we must have the responsibility not to overuse it and to learn to compromise.

I end my post with a little wisdom from my friends in MAROON 5:

“Its not always rainbows and butterflies, its compromise that moves us along”

Give and take. Win and lose.  It balances our world and it keeps us rational.

(pssst … I would still stay with Peter, we would just have to compromise his whole deal with not growing up.  But then again, he wouldn’t be Peter Pan if he grew up. UGH!! I’m back where I started.  But hey, a girl can dream can’t she?)

Jo and Joe.

Okay, I couldn’t resist.

MY M&M: Britain’s fabulous fashion magazine eve.

June Issue

It has invaded the US and is taking the world of fashion magazines by storm.  The first issue I picked up of eve was the April Issue with Keira Knightley on the cover.  She is my all-time favorite actress and I love every movie she is in (Pride & Prejudice… HULLO!)  She is soo talented and her movies and just breathtaking!!  omg I seriously love her, I will officially say that she is my role model… in every way!!!

So of course, any magazine that has her face on the cover, I immediately buy.  So this random magazine eve, caught my interest and I was a bit intrigued.  I took it home that night and read through it and perused through the spreads.  After reading through the magazine, I can honestly say that I was speechless.  The fashions, the tips, the spreads and the stories were amazing, and I’m afraid I have to say this…but in my opinion, it beats any American fashion magazine printed….with the exception of INSTYLE, which I now swear by.

But seriously, the way they cover fashion is total perfection, and what I love most about it is how well they outline the hottest trends of the season.  Their great tips, ideas and stories help inspire women to better themselves both personally and fashionably.  And I can honestly say, they’ve done their magic on me!!

On a more personal note, I love anything that has to do with England, and the fact that they have this amazing magazine just makes my heart melt.  My craving to visit the country just grows and grows everyday!!  How amazing would it be to contribute to such a magazine!?!?!

It’s a fabulous, inspiring and delicious magazine, but it’s pretty rare to find.  I’ve been getting my fix of eve at my haven: BARNESANDNOBLE.  Seriously people, there is no better place D

And it might be a little pricey ($6.99) but what you get out of the magazine is worth every cent of it and more.  I believe it’s totally worth it because you get a taste of cultural fashion and an idea of what is going on across the seas.  Most of the fashions we see in the American spreads are often influenced by different cultures, so why not educate ourselves with various magazines with the perspective of a different country!!

Pssssst… for all you SEX IN THE CITY fans… SJP is on the cover of the June issue.  And the spread about Sex in the City is just ravishing!!

Psssssssst again…. The July issue goes on sale June 2nd, so hurry and get June’s issue before it’s taken off the stands!!

So delve into this supreme magazine… you will not regret it!!!  Check it out at: http://www.evemagazine.co.uk/evestyleshow.htm

Oh, and you’re welcome,

MissJO.

Dear Avid Readers,

To fill you in on my adventures in Narnia, I have completed the 3rd quest (The Horse and His Boy) and I am now setting off for my 4th adventure in Narnia (Prince Caspian).  Am I obsessed?  You could say that.  But I’m not going to lie when I say that I wish that when I open my wardrobe, I find myself in Narnia.  But seriously…I’m not THAT obsessed.

Also, I finally watched THE LION, THE WITCH AND THE WARDROBE THE MOVIE (I know I’m late), and let me tell you… WOW, I mean WOW!!

Here’s a brief overview of my opinions of the movie:

1.    It followed the book so well, I was impressed.

2.    I cried. I kid you not.

3.    Because of that movie I love: Aslan, Peter JAMES MCAVOY aka TUMNUS and Narnia.

The end.

In other news, keep an eye out for new M&Ms, I know I’m a bit behind … but Narnia is my life right now… I cannot help myself!!!  But I’ve got plenty of M&Ms to go around :D

Love your ravishing blogger,

MISS JO.

You know that feeling you get when you’re looking forward to something?

Or

When you realize that you have the greatest friends you could ever ask for?

Or

When you realize that your family is perfect despite all the flaws?

Or

When you stand back and look ahead of you, all you see is infinite possibilities?

Or

When you finally let yourself sit back and watch things unfold rather than trying to pry them open?

Or

When you just realize that everything in your life finally makes sense and all you need is one more piece to finish the puzzle?

Yea, that’s what I’m feeling right now….all at once.

And even though I feel like I’m spinning round and round with my hands out in front of me … I know someone will catch me.

And if it’s not today or tomorrow or anytime soon,  I know that my friends and family will be what I land on.

And that is enough for me.

Just a little something-something I wanted to share with you dear readers.

Consider this, your daily dose of optimism.

                                I’ll be here all week.

                                                Thankyouandgoodnight.

                                                                You know you love me,

                                                                                                          Jo. Just Jo.

Greetings and Salutations from SUMMER!!!

In celebration of summer, aka freedom from class, permission to tan, be lazy and lay back while sipping your favorite drink, I have decided to compile a list of my summer obsessions.  It’s the hottest list to hit wordpress.  Allow me to introduce jO’s:

MUST HAVE, MUST SEE AND MUST DO LIST

Or simply My M&Ms.

MUST DO: Read The Chronicles of Narnia (if you haven’t already).

With no more homework, essays or readings, this summer I finally have time to read what I want to read.  Now judge all you want, but I’ve begun reading:The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe

THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA

From the moment I saw Prince Caspian’s face on the movie posters, I ran home, took the books off the shelf ( I must admit…they were dusty) and started reading.  I’ve just finished the first book, The Magician’s Nephew, which was the cutest book ever.  But my question is, where were these books when I was younger??  I mean, I don’t know about you, but I do not remember them sprawled out in the bookstore, or my mom ever mentioning them.  But anyways, I’ve just started The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe and I’m just head over heels.  Sure it is a children’s book, but when have we ever been too old for fairy tales?

In The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, C.S. Lewis, I have always believed in Once upon a time, but I was always afraid to admit it out loud.  But I feel that I’ve reached a point in my life where I realize that believing in something is better than believing in nothing. Because without that hope in Once upon a time, what do you have to look forward to?

Back to the novel, C.S. Lewis dedicated the book to his goddaughter, Lucy and wrote:

As a result you are already too old for fairy tales, and by the time it is printed and bound you will be older still.  But some day you will be old enough to start reading fairy tales again.”

To be honest, I never really grew out of fairy tales, but for me, this statement means a lot.  There is a time when you are little, when fairy tales are like a dream almost…and you actually believe in Once upon a time.  But as you get older, you begin to think that this Once upon a time isn’t realistic.  HOWEVER, once you reach a certain age with experience, that belief in Once upon a time comes back, and you begin to understand it better.  Whatever that age is, its different for all of us.  As for the in Once upon a time, then I suggest you grab this book…and start believing.  Summer is here, and it allows your mind to relax and wander.  It’s the perfect time to lose yourself in Narina, because in reality…you’re not losing any time.
