ABC…easy as…123!

February 29, 2008

So let me fill you in on a little secret:

I have found the perfect snack.  It’s the perfect little package of endless crunch, and salty fun.  I’m talking about the number one “snack attack” in the world!! Okay…maybe just in MY world, but nevertheless, this snack will change the way you snack.

Allow me to introduce you to: ABC PRETZELS®.

Yes, they may sound so elementary, but I kid you not when I say they are SO beyond kindergrade!!!  They are little bitty pretzels shaped like…yep you guess it… the letters of the alphabet: A-Z baby!!!  They are addicting, and each letter is so crunchy . . . its mindboggling.  They have just the right amount salt: not too much . . . and not too little.  Now that I have your taste buds’ attention, they are wondering where they can get some of this tasty treat!

They are hidden deep inside the greatest supermarket of all time:  Wegmans®.  If you don’t have one anywhere near you…then drive farther.  Once you’re there, take ride on the wild side aka: the SNACK isle and there they are . . . right before the major snackers: HERRS ® TOSTITOS® and so forth.  They are kept in a clear bag so keep an eye out!!

So grab a bag . . . and indulge in ABC Pretzels®!  Once you’re tried them, no other pretzel in the world will add up to the deliciousness of an ABC Pretzel®!

And P.S. TRUST me on this one!  If there ever was one, I am the QUEEN of Pretzels!  I know what I’m talking about!!

Now I would normally write a longer “blog” entry, but seeing as how I’m craving ABC Pretzels ®, I HAVE to grab a handful of that delicious treat!

Oh, and P.S.S. You’re welcome :D

My Shopping Companion

February 29, 2008

So I went to the mall today in the frame of mind to spend all the money I have so painstakingly saved.  Pathetic I know, but I had this hunger to SHOP and it had to be fed!!  Now I understand that when you go shopping, it is recommended to look at least put together, and to wear something fashionable, yet comfortable.  I normally find, as will others, that if I “dress to impress,” I feel like I have been embodied with GIRL POWER!!  But on this specific day, “dressing to impress” was NOT on my to-do-list.   So now that I have your attention, you’re wondering, WHAT did I wear??  Well here it is:

My BRIGHT pink obnoxious PINK sweats

An old t-shirt from my High School days

My white- heart-studded zip-up PINK hoodie

My “parka”

And not to mention my tall UGGS.

Oh, and my hair was everywhere…but I mean when is it not??

If that does not equal to SLOB, then I don’t know what does.  Quite frankly, I really do hate it when people get all dressed-up for the mall . . . to go shopping.  I know I should not judge because I do it too sometimes… BUT, only if I have been somewhere else that demanded more stylish apparel.  Still, you have those girls who dress themselves up . . . just for the mall: to simply BE seen and make a statement.   Like seriously . . . it’s just the mall . . . you’re shopping for clothes.  And what I love the most is these girls STARE at me and judge me for my sloppiness!! CLEARLY I’m dressed like the slob because I am in NEED of clothes. DUH!!! THAT’S why I came to the mall…. I’m in search of better attire.  HONESTLY!!!

Now, I know I just went on a horrible tangent about girls getting dressed up for the mall and me looking like a mess, but it got me really agitated that people were looking at me as if I just rolled out of bed!!  I mean, yes, I kind of deserved it because I did look like crap, but hey, I’m allowed a “bad clothes day” here and there!

But, getting back to the MAIN purpose of this blog, my “shopping companion” whom I love and adore with all my life, said something that I will never forget.  We were both dressed alike, slob twins if you will, she noticed how much of a mess we were, and bluntly said:

“So I’m dressed like a slob, but I’m wearing a $500 bag.”

I cannot tell you how hard I started laughing; TEARS were streaming down my face!!  It was the funniest thing I heard all day and I could not control myself.  It was the truth, no doubt about it.  There we were, two ladies dressed in sweats, lacking make-up, and hair in disarray.  But, there on our shoulders was her COACH bag, and my leather FOSSIL bag – the most expensive thing we were wearing.  It was just funny how we dressed sloppy, yet we held our dignity by wearing our “expensive” bags.  :D

So, who is my “shopping companion?”

Well my Mom of course!! She has to be my one and only “shopping companion.”  Not because she sometimes buys me things, but because she is just a remarkable woman.  She is my twin, my other half and we tend to think same.  Not only do I get fabulous fashion advice from a woman who has seen it ALL, but because she can sometimes be, well, brutally honest. LOL!  And believe me; you NEED that when you are shopping!!!

SO my question to you dear reader is:  who is YOUR “shopping companion?”   And why??!!

Shopping is a girl’s favorite hobby…so you mind as well share it with somebody you love!

My Addiction

February 29, 2008

I have an addiction.

Dermatologist and experts have said that it’s all false, but as for me… I believe.

I’m addicted to chapstick.  It’s true.  If you see me sitting in class, driving, working or just whatever, I am constantly applying my chapstick.  Sometimes, if I just sit there…I will apply coats after coats of moisturizing lip balm.  Consciously? Of course.  Subconsciously? Absolutely.  I like to call it Compulsive Chapstick-Applying Phenomenon- CHAP. Oh how appropriate.

So, what’s my poison?

The Savannah Bee  (100% NATURAL): Tupelo Honey -Beeswax Lip Balm

I swear by this, and let me tell you…it’s a beautiful thing.  You could say that it’s a cousin of Burt’s Bees Lip Balm, but in my opinion, this Savannah Bee knows its beeswax!

If you don’t believe my addiction, please allow me to explain.   If I forget to bring it with me, I’ll have a panic attack.  I will spend all that time, chapstick-less, wetting and rewetting my lips.  If there is a “Bath and Body Works” nearby, I’ll be inside stocking up on this one lip balm.  My lips yearn for that moisturizing beeswax, and I can’t help but to apply it.  Within the hour or during the hour, I will have this chapstick in hand, spreading and coating away.

So if you are looking for an underlying message or theme for this entry… I’m sorry to stay that you’ll leave disappointed.  I was bored, and well to be honest…procrastinating- I cannot tell a lie.  But I felt the need to share this addiction with you, and hopefully, if whoever reads my BLOG, shares this obsession with chapstick, then kudos to us- we’re not alone! :D

If next time you see, and I’m franticly searching through my big bag, it’s because I’m just looking for my chapstick.  TOTALLY normal.

Who knew that a girl, who is petrified of bees, would end up obsessed with beeswax?

Weird? Yes. And I’m not ashamed.

A little tidbit…

February 29, 2008

“She is pure alice in wonderland, and her appearance and demeanor are a nicely judged mix of the red queen and a flamingo.” – Truman Capote.

That is my favorite quote of all time.  My reasons?  Well first, I just love Alice in Wonderland.  After reading “The Looking Glass Wars” by Frank Beddor, I fell in love with the story.  (I highly suggest reading it!)  Secondly, the quote defines a girl who is a mixture of so many qualities that it’s hard to pin point it.  In my eyes, I feel that the girl Capote is referring to is someone who is different. That’s right I said it…different.  It’s scary to be different nowadays and everyone is trying to reach “perfection.”  My question is: what is perfection?  Is it ever attainable?  Every individual has a different idea of perfection, and I feel that the only way to achieve it is if we define it ourselves.

Perfection to me is being everything you are and nothing else.  I use to be afraid of being different, but now I see it more as a gift.  SO, how did I overcome the fear of being different?  Well, I know it may sound pretty dumb, but getting made fun of helped me out!!  Weird I know, but it seriously made me both stronger and confident.   I’ve been ridiculed throughout my life by being different.

Having crazy, frizzy curly hair and adding glasses and braces to the mix didn’t help much. Also, my name was different and my ethnicity was I guess somewhat debatable. In their eyes, I was different. I didn’t fit into their mold of “perfection.”  So, they kept pestering me and then one day I got fed up with it.  I was so over it and by arguing with them, it just made matters worse.  So, I just stopped.  I stopped caring about what they thought of me!!  So what if my hair is crazy!?! It made me stand out, braces fixed my teeth, glasses let me see (not to mention they are super stylish) and the name Josephine is pretty rare nowadays. As for me being Sicilian, it just makes me that more unique!

So thanks to everyone who made fun of me . . . you really helped me get use to my skin and stand out! :P So if you’re afraid of being different, don’t be.  The way I see it, different is the NEW perfection.  So let those “haters” go and hate because in the end, it’s you who is getting stronger.  Treasure what makes you unique and people will see your confidence.

Like Kanye West says, “T
hat don’t kill me, can only make me stronger.”
So, be who you are, along with the fire of the red queen and the beauty of a flamingo.

SPREAD THE WORD- different is beautiful ;D
